The Halifax Hurricanes are excited to announce “Guard Skills Night” for U11-U18 Girls with Maia Timmons and Chloe Oxner!
Maia has a wealth of playing experience having played for Basketball Nova Scotia, Ottawa Gee-Gees, and the Dal Tigers. In Maia’s first year as an assistant coach for the MSVU Mystics, Timmons won a ACAA Championship. Maia is one of 13 aspiring female coaches to participate in this year’s CCAA Female Apprentice Coach Program.
Chloe Oxner has coached for the Halifax Thunder for eight seasons and played at the next level with King’s College and most recently the MSVU Mystics where she won a 2022-2023 ACAA Championship in her senior year. Oxner is taking her leadership skills at MSVU from the hardwood to the sidelines, as she most recently joined the MSVU Mystics as an assistant coach.
“Guard Skills Night” will cover a variety of fundamentals and skills including ball handling, finishing skills, advantage moves, and shooting. All players are welcome, regardless of playing experience.
We are very excited to have two future female leaders run a session for girls U11-U18.
