U10-U18 Minor Basketball Teams
Our U10 to U18 boys and girls teams play in the Metro Basketball Association.
U10s and U12s play on Saturdays.
U14s, U16s, and U18s play on Sundays.
Games can be anywhere in the HRM area. Some games can require travel to areas outside of, but still close to HRM. At the end of the season, some teams will elect to play in Provincials, which may require a weekend stay in another part of the Province. Some teams may also travel for the occasional tournament.
Teams typically practice twice each week. Practice times are not issued until teams and coaches are selected as we endeavour to accommodate our volunteer coaches schedules. Practice times are typically Mon-Fri between 6pm and 10pm. Practices are held at various gyms on peninsular Halifax.
Teams are created by each player going through our player assessment process where he or she, along with a large group of his or her peers, are assessed for skill, basketball IQ, coachability, and general athleticism. There are two assessment sessions. After the assessment players are placed on a team with others having similar abilities.
All players are asked to bring their own ball to practice and to ensure the ball is the correct size for the age division.
Registration typically opens mid-August and closes the first week in September. When open, registration can be completed through our Registration tab. Once registration is open, please do not delay. We are limited in the number of teams we can create because Halifax does not have enough gyms to accommodate the demand for gym time for practices and games. We fill up fast and cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all people who end up on the waitlist.
Registration fee is $425 for the regular season (subject to change as costs increase). If the team elects to play in Provincials or other tournaments, there may be additional costs.
If you require financial assistance or need to arrange split payment, please email Danny De Palma at email@example.com to discuss. Our goal is to help where help is needed.
